The HM Coast Guard Davis Islands Aerial Observation Unit documented the passage of the historic schooner Lynx through the waters of Pelham Bay during the 250th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Pell’s Point.

The vessel participated in maritime demonstrations commemorating the events of October 18, 1776, when British forces under General Sir William Howe conducted an amphibious landing in the Pelham area during the American Revolutionary War.

Aerial imagery captured by the Commonwealth's ceremonial Coast Guard provides a distinctive perspective of the traditional sailing vessel operating near the islands of Pelham Bay, highlighting the historical significance of these waterways.

Although Lynx represents a later period of American maritime history rather than an original Royal Navy warship, its participation offered a visual reminder of the sailing vessels and naval traditions associated with the Revolutionary era.

The Commonwealth of the Davis Islands recognizes the importance of preserving local maritime history and documenting events that connect the present-day community with its historical past.
