BRONX, NEW YORK — October 14, 2026

The Commonwealth of the Davis Islands has announced a significant milestone in its early history with the ceremonial incorporation of Twin Island and its official designation as the Commonwealth's capital.

Through Proclamation No. 002 of 2026, signed by Honorary Governor-General Matthew J., Twin Island has been designated the Ceremonial Capital and Seat of the Honorary Governor-General.

The proclamation also introduces Governor's Bridge as the ceremonial name for the land connection to Twin Island, while preserving the Chimney Sweeps Islands as the Commonwealth's historic founding location.

The announcement comes just six days after the Commonwealth's establishment on October 8, 2026, marking a new chapter in the development of its ceremonial institutions and maritime identity.

The Honorary Governor-General is expected to commemorate the designation through a future ceremonial flag presentation and the publication of an official Commonwealth map.

The Commonwealth emphasizes that these designations are entirely symbolic. Twin Island and its surrounding areas remain under their existing governmental jurisdiction, with all public access, environmental protections, and park regulations continuing unchanged.

Proclamation No. 002 of 2026 is now available for public viewing in the Commonwealth's official document archives.
